Kris Roppe

Kris Roppe

PRESIDENT

I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in May of 2013 where I was a member of the student chapter of ASCE. During college, I participated on the steel bridge team and attended the 2012 and 2013 Regional competitions. I am currently with I+S Group, Inc. in our La Crosse office as part of the Civil Engineering Group. My responsibilities include site design, transportation engineering, surveying, and construction inspection.

I have enjoyed my time serving as a branch director and president elect. I am looking forward to the coming year as President of the Northwest Branch.

Andy Walters, P.E.

Andy Walters, P.E.

SECRETARY/TREASURER

I work as a Civil (Geotechnical) Engineer for American Engineering Testing out of Schofield (Wausau). My work experience ranges from geotechnical engineering at large mining operations around North America, transportation projects in the upper Midwest, and a wide range of private sector projects. I graduated in May 2005 from UW-Platteville and obtained my P.E. in the fall of 2009. I was a Northwest Branch Director for 4 years and have been your Secretary/Treasurer for the past 2 years. I look forward to continuing to serve the Northwest Branch as the Secretary/Treasurer as well as continuing in other branch activities; performing K-12 outreach presentations, and assisting in coordinating Branch meetings in the Wausau area. Starting in 2016, I was elected to serve on the ASCE Wisconsin Section as a Director-at-large.

Outside of work during the winter months I’m involved in multiple bowling leagues. During the summer I enjoy camping with my family, playing softball, and tossin’ shoes. For the past few years, I have been an active member of the Town of Texas (Northeast of Wausau) Planning and Zoning Committee.

Corona Woychik

DIRECTOR

I graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in Civil Engineering this past December, and I’m looking at actively continuing my involvement with ASCE as I begin my professional career at ISG in La Crosse. As a student, I was a member of ASCE, actively involved with ISU’s Steel Bridge team, and a member of the Steel Bridge construction crew in 2014. Now, I’ve returned to the area I’ve grown up in, and I work at ISG doing site and transportation design work and assisting with WisDOT project construction administration. I am eager to connect with like-minded individuals and use the leadership skills I’ve developed over the years to give back to both ASCE and this region of Wisconsin.

My husband and I recently bought a house big enough for the two of us, a flying squirrel, and enough bats to live in our upstairs walls. Home renovations and critter evictions keep us busy, but when not working on the house, we enjoy spending our time enjoying outdoor Wisconsin when it’s nice out and having movie marathons when it’s not.

Dan Borchardt, P.E.

Dan Borchardt, P.E.

DIRECTOR

Motivated by making a difference, Dan plans continued leadership in ASCE on the Northwest Branch Board of Directors as a director at large candidate for the 2016-2017 year. Dan has been a committed, active member to ASCE for the past 11 years and has continued his professional development through ASCE by residing as President for the Wisconsin Section and Past President of the Northwest Branch/Branch director.

Dan has helped the Northwest Branch excel by developing a K-12 outreach program, initiating member involvement and recognition through featured member articles in the newsletter, assisted with the promotion of leadership within the branch by helping establish an honorarium, spearheaded branch historical document preservation and initiating creation and development of the Northwest Branch website. Dan looks forward to continuing that leadership as we head into another year with ASCE. Onward Dan plans to continue the communication and networking opportunities for Northwest Branch and embrace the role with new ideas.

Dan is a Project Manager on municipal and transportation projects at MSA Professional Services in Marshfield. His position includes a variety of project experience and a range of experience working design and construction. Dan is a spring 2006 graduate of UW-Platteville and enjoys being active outdoors as well as spending time with his wife Theresa and children Raelyn and Connor.

Evan Berglund

Evan M. Berglund, P.E., LEED

DIRECTOR

I graduated from Michigan Technological University in Spring 2000 and from graduate school with a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in Spring 2002. My first job was in Troy, MI working on commercial and residential civil and structural engineering projects. For the last ten years I’ve worked at Krech Ojard & Associates’ Eau Claire office working on a diverse collection of large inter-disciplinary projects and smaller structural-only projects. Projects have been regional, national, and international. Projects range from an emphasis on heavy industrial and
manufacturing, to marine civil/structural rehabilitation, foundation designs, paper and pulp, material handling, health care, churches, telecommunications, etc. Other professional organization involvement includes the Chippewa Valley chapter of the Association of Facility Engineers (AFE) and volunteering at the Mathcounts competition with the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE). I also volunteer on the Golf Committee that helps organize the annual golf fundraiser for Chippewa Valley Young Life.

Originally from Poplar, WI near Lake Superior, my wife, Lisa, and I have three kids, a dog, and a variety of other small living creatures while residing in Eau Claire. We stay active with our church and select sport activities with the kids. Most evenings and weekends, I can be found doing activities or getting my hands dirty at or near home.

Dylan Musgjerd

Dylan Musgjerd

DIRECTOR

I graduated from North Dakota State University in December of 2016 where I served as an ASCE Student Chapter officer for my entire college run. I was the Freshman representative then followed my next 3 years as Treasurer. I was a member of the NDSU Steel Bridge team my Junior year and Captained the team my Senior year. All of my collegiate involvement has helped me immensely in learning how to lead and support a group.

My wife currently is working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at UW La Crosse which is what brought me to the area in the first place. Over the past year and a half I have grown to fall in love with the La Crosse area and plan to stay for a very long time. This works out well as I have been an outdoorsman my whole life. From the gun to the bow to the rod I enjoy it all!

I currently work as a Graduate Engineer in the Structural Department at I + S Group, Inc. and have been with this company for almost a year and a half. I have wanted to be a structural engineer since the 4th grade when I built my very first toothpick bridge and haven’t looked back since. I love my job and the people I work with. I look forward to many more years as an engineer, husband, and in a few short years a father.

Mike Binsfield

Mike Binsfield

PAST PRESIDENT

I am very much looking forward to my continued involvement in the northwest Branch and the Wisconsin Section for the 2016-17 term. Being a board member for the last few years has allowed me the chance to connect with great people who share the same enthusiasm for the industry in which we work. I feel very strongly that ASCE offers excellent opportunities for its members and in continuing the stewardship of the Civil Engineering profession.

After graduating in 2006 from Purdue University with a Bachelor in Civil Engineering, I worked with Kiewit’s Bridge and Marine Division participating in the construction of large scale, technical bridge projects along the Pacific Coastline. My wife, Betsy and I have since moved back to our hometown of La Crosse where I work for J.F. Brennan Company, a La Crosse, WI based contractor who specializes in heavy marine construction, environmental remediation, and barge transportation. My responsibilities include project management, estimating, and client relations management. I’ve recently completed a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse. We have two children, Julia and Charlie, both under 4 years of age and we are expecting another
daughter in January of 2017.

Most people dream about doing great things, Civil Engineers make great things happen.
